"...I have met many octogenarians, but few who have affected as many lives as you have. I am inspired when I think about all that you have done and experienced in your years..."

Barak Obama

Congratulations on your 80th birthday. In my travels around Illinois I have met many octogenarians, but few who have affected as many lives as you have.

I am inspired when I think about all that you have done and experienced in your years. You were a witness to the Great Depression, the Second World War, and the social revolution of the 1950s and 1960s. You have seen Neil Armstrong walk on the moon, the deconstruction of the Berlin Wall, and the collapse of South Africa's apartheid regime. These events are reflective of inspired people, as yourself, who are dedicated to shaping the direction of our world. Ariel tells me that you have served your congregation for over 50 years. You are indeed a valuable asset to your community and a blessing to our state.

You lead an extraordinary life, and I appreciate the opportunity to congratulate you on this important milestone. I wish you many more happy years.
