How Has Rabbi Weissberg Touched My Life? In Never-ending Ways.

For the last forty-seven years, Rabbi has been part of my life. As a child in religious school I remember Rabbi Weissberg never forgetting a child’s name. His smile or hello made you always feel important. Even his occasional argument or disagreement made you feel that your thoughts mattered, even if he didn’t agree.

He has been our Rabbi and part of our family from consecrations, to confirmations, to weddings, baby names and our children’s life cycle events too. The man who hugs and kisses to share in your joy and the man whose hugs and kisses can make the world seem better during those less joyous life-cycle events. This is the Rabbi Weissberg that everyone knows… the man who is more than just your Rabbi.

The Rabbi Weissberg I am also privileged to know is the perceptive man. The man who called me when I was happy at home raising two children and said, "I need your help." Well….. How do you say no to Rabbi? Next thing I knew I was teaching "Rabbi’s Pajama" class with Rabbi and once again feeling fulfilled as a teacher. Next, Tamar stepped in and convinced me no one else but me could teach 1st grade Religious School. And the story continues with a fulltime career at Temple Beth-el, thanks to that first phone call from Rabbi.

Now I still have the honor of working with a creative, brilliant man, who shares ideas, thoughts and life-long learning with me while still making me feel he couldn’t do it without me. The truth is, we all know we couldn’t do it without him.
