"We feel blessed that Rabbi and Tamar have been a part of our family for over 43 years... How lucky we are!..." Eileen & Art Eisenberg

We feel blessed that Rabbi and Tamar have been a part of our family for over 43 years. There has never been a major family gathering that the Weissberg’s didn’t attend. Rabbi officiated at all of our weddings-even traveling to San Francisco for Lenore and Bill. We celebrated Mom’s (Fern) 90th birthday together and blessed our 4 grandsons at their bris’. Rabbi grieved with us at our fathers’ funerals, as well as those of our aunts, uncles, and cousins.

When our children (Scott and Karen) were in school, Art and I were actively involved in synagogue activities. During that time I carefully watched Rabbi as he led the congregation both spiritually and administratively. I learned leadership skills that have since guided my professional life. Knowing your values, having a vision, and working to achieve your goals were taught to me by Rabbi’s example. One of the most valuable things I learned was the importance of establishing and maintaining personal relationships: people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. While I do not have Rabbi’s knack for remembering names I do remember people and what is important to them.

I used to take notes during Rabbi’s sermons. I would do so in outline form knowing that there was always an introduction, points one, two, and three, and roundabout he’d reach a conclusion. Of course, I’d always make a list of words I needed to look up in a dictionary as soon as I got home. I was forever the defender of those sermons that seemed to wander – knowing that he always came back to tie up his original thoughts. Those musings are what gives us a slight peek into the mind of a learned scholar. How lucky we are!
