This cantata presents a short history of the State of Israel from its birth to its present day. The context of this review is the once-popular television show, “This is Your Life” where the guest star, typically a public figure, would be surprised by secret guests waiting in “green room” off stage, coming out one-by-one, who would then build on the public figure’s biography. This cantata’s public figure is “Israel” and her biography unfolds as we are introduced on-by-one to Theodore Hertzl, Lord Balfour, Hannah Senesh, Chaim Weizmann, Menachem Began and other important individuals key to the development of Israel, as we proceed to the present day.
