![]() Cantatas From This cantata examines the miracle of the birth of the State of Israel from the crucible of the Holocaust. From the suffering, violence, deprivation and death at the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators, “G-D redeemed Israel and rebuilt Jerusalem.” The This cantata examines man’s relationship to G-D, especially the concept of holiness, and Man’s relationship to his fellow man. The device for this examination is the “Aleph-Bet” by which the actors move through the Hebrew alphabet, letter-by-letter, to examine key Jewish words which we consider almost “magical” in our quest for righteousness: Mitzvah, Mercy, Goodness, Justice, Charity, Love, Courage and Peace! This This cantata presents a short history of the State of Israel from its birth to its present day. The context of this review is the once-popular television show, “This is Your Life” where the guest star, typically a public figure, would be surprised by secret guests waiting in “green room” off stage, coming out one-by-one, who would then build on the public figure’s biography. This cantata’s public figure is “Israel” and her biography unfolds as we are introduced on-by-one to Theodore Hertzl, Lord Balfour, Hannah Senesh, Chaim Weizmann, Menachem Began and other important individuals key to the development of Israel, as we proceed to the present day. © 2007 RabbiWeissberg.com | All Rights Reserved |
